Academic honor

June 26, 2012
The Herald-Star
Steubenville Big Red graduate JoJo Pierro, here with Big Red football coach Reno Saccoccia, was named a member of the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association All-Ohio Academic Team. Pierro, who will attend Duquesne University, finished third in his high school class with a 3.96 GPA. Only 120 student-athletes from the more than 35,000 players in the state were recognized for this award. Pierro received the honor due to his performance on the field and in the classroom. In addition, 71 schools were honored as Academic All-Ohio teams. To qualify, the grade-point averages of the top 22 lettermen for each team were averaged and ranked. Receiving such honors were Steubenville, Steubenville Catholic Central and Indian Creek.
