Amelia DiCarlo

DICARLO, Amelia T., 98, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Sienna Woods Nursing Home in Wintersville, Ohio.

She was born Jan. 18, 1914, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank and Antionette (Mazzoni) Lugano. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Attilio "Til" P. DiCarlo on July 4, 1993; three brothers, Peter, Alfonse and Domenic Lugano; five sisters, Mary Drzayich, Lena Munis, Rose Davis, Irene Caputo and Hilda M. Tepovich; and a son-in-law, Dr. James Valuska Sr.

Amelia was a homemaker and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo Junction and a former member of St. Bernadettes Catholic Church in Mingo Junction, where she was a member of the Catholic Womens Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Gertrude "Gertie" DiLoreto and her husband, Francis DiLoreto of Mingo Junction, and Evelyn Valuska of Steubenville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction.

On Monday, friends will be received at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo Junction from 9:15 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 a.m., with Fr. James M. Dunfee, as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio.

There will be a vigil service on Sunday at 7:45 p.m.
