St. Clairsville defeats Cadiz
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - American Legion Post 159 finished with 11 hits in Tuesday's win over visiting Cadiz Post 34, 3-2.
Cadiz took a 2-0 lead on St. Clairsville in the top of the second inning on an RBI-triple by Josh Kernik and an RBI-single by Ryan Rose.
St. Clairsville added one in the third inning and two in the bottom of the fifth inning for the victory.

Spitak wins golf tourney
MASON, W.Va. - Wellsburg's Michael Spitak won the Top Flite Junior Tour tournament at Riverside Golf Club. The 12-year-old golfer shot an even-par 70.
Volleyball officials course to be held
MARTINS FERRY - The West Virginia-Ohio Volleyball Officials Association is sponsoring a 28-hour course in the fundamentals of volleyball officiating.
Candidates successfully completing the course will be eligible to officiate the upcoming school year.
The course begins from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 24 at the Martins Ferry Recreation Center.

STEUBENVILLE - The Polish Athletic Club will hold a cookout at 6 p.m. Friday in the pavilion for its members and their guests.
Roach records an ace
HOPEDALE - Jimmy Roach recorded a hole-in-one at Castle Shannon Golf Course. He used a 4-wood on the 195-yard par 3 second hole. The witnesses were John Niven, Joe DeSantis and Kevin Gunser.
Shell records an ace
CHESTER - Terry Shell recorded a hole-in-one at the Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course. He used a pitching wedge on the 147-yard par 3 fifth hole.
The witnesses were Marianne Gilham, Paul Scuillo and Ron Sams.
Moorman finishes second
COLUMBUS - Indian Creek graduate Jeff Moorman helped the Ohio State University bass fishing team take second place in a FLW College Fishing tournament in North Carolina.
It qualifies him for the FLW Regional Championship tournament later this summer.
