Junior Dons to hold sign-ups

WEIRTON - Registration for the Madonna Junior Don football program will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Madonna High School football locker room for students entering grades 4-8 who are enrolled at St. Paul or St. Joseph schools.

Post 33 to hold hitting camp

STEUBENVILLE - Steubenville American Legion Post 33 is conducting its 18th-annual hitting camp at Vaccaro Field for players ages 7-18 Monday through Wednesday. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $80 per camper.

Repella to host hoops camp

STEUBENVILLE - The Liz Repella Girls Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 9-11 at Steubenville High School for those entering grades 6-9.

The cost is $50 per person and will include a T-shirt, daily prizes, giveaways and a pizza party.

Bears to hold volleyball camp

NEW CUMBERLAND - Oak Glen High School will host a volleyball camp on July 30-31 and Aug. 1 for all girls entering grades 6-12. The camp will be facilitated by Fairmont University head coach Larry Hill and members of his coaching staff.

The cost is $100. Girls entering grades 9-12 will meet from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with girls entering grades 6-8 meeting from noon to 3 p.m.

Fast pitch event to be held

CHESTER - The Oak Glen Junior Bears will hold their third-annual Fast Pitch Bash July 6-8 in three age divisions: U10, U12, and U15. Format is pool play followed by single elimination with three games guaranteed. The cost is $200.

Ferry to host pole vault camp

MARTINS FERRY - The Martins Ferry track and field program will host its inaugural pole vault camp from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 9-11. There are three days of instruction from a staff that includes Mount Union pole vault coach Mike Zemrock and Ferry vault coach Paul Matuska.

The cost is $150 for the athlete and $20 if a coach wishes to attend.

Each camper should bring his or her own poles, water bottle and is encouraged to wear a good pair of training shoes.

Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Williams crowns Blue Coat winners

WEIRTON - Don Pitko and Charles Garrison defeated C.R. Chernik and Chris Morey on the third playoff hole with a net par in the alternate shot format to win the annual Blue Coat Championshop at Williams Country Club.

The other three flight winners who began the playoff, but were out after the first hole, were Jim Markovitz and Brad Hood, Michael Payne and Jason Backel and Fred Chambers and Frank Dellaria.
