Cadiz defeats Toronto
CADIZ - Nick Pelegreen and Spenser Sninchak were locked in a pitcher's duel Wednesday and Pelegreen came out on top as Cadiz Post 34 nipped Toronto Post 86, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Pelegreen finished with six strikeouts, three walks and gave up three hits. Sninchak fanned five, walked three and allowed four hits.
Six of the seven hits were singles. Sninchak rapped a double. Toronto totaled three errors.
Post 86 hosts Richmond for a 5 p.m. doubleheader today, while Cadiz visits Steubenville at 6 p.m. today.

Panthers to have meeting
RAYLAND - A Buckeye Local cross country team meeting for those in grades 7-12 who plan on competing for the Panthers in the fall, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the high school commons area.

Summer Slam to take place
STEUBENVILLE - The fourth-annual Steubenville Girls Basketball Summer Slam will take place at noon Saturday and at 10 a.m. Sunday at Steubenville High School and Harding Middle School.
The following teams are participating: Steubenville, Indian Creek, Martins Ferry, New Philadelphia, Ridgewood, Weir High, Wheeling Central, Buckeye Local, Claymont, Edison, Malvern, and Rootstown.
Helping to sponsor the event are: Joe Biasi, Ron Salvino, Dennis George, Chet Masloski, Total Sports Connextion and CJ's, Johnny Davis.
Repella to host hoops camp
STEUBENVILLE - The Liz Repella Girls Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 9-11 at Steubenville High School for those entering grades 6-9.
The cost is $50 per person and will include a T-shirt, daily prizes, giveaways and a pizza party.

Brooke to host hoops camp
WELLSBURG - The Brooke High School Basketball Camp will be held from 8 a.m. to noon June 14-15 for boys and girls in grades 3-8. The cost is $40 per person and $20 for additional family members. The camp will feature offensive and defensive fundamentals.
Mazzaferro records an ace
EAST SPRINGFIELD - Tom Mazzaferro recorded a hole-in-one at Spring Hills Golf Club. He used a 6-iron on the 167-yard, par-3 14th hole. The witnesses were Ton Dutton, Mike Rutledge and Doug Swinehart.
Wright records an ace
EAST SPRINGFIELD - Brian Wright recorded a hole-in-one at Spring Hills Golf Club. He used an 8-iron on the 167-yard, par-3 14th hole. The witness was Doug Pool.
Fouty records an ace
BROOKFIELD, Ohio - Roy Fouty recorded a hole-in-one at Yankee Run Golf Course. The Steubenville resident ised a 7-iron on the 154-yard par 3 eighth hole. The witnesses were Joe Holliday, Dave Iachini and Sean Hanley
Mavromatis records double eagle
STEUBENVILLE - Nick Mavromatis recorded a double eagle at Steubenville Country Club. He hit a 5-wood into the hole on the second shot. The witness was Jon Rogers.
JK Spartans fare well
WINTERSVILLE - The five JK United Spartans Select soccer teams were 4-1 last week.
The U10 Boys Division 4 team beat Bethel Park (3-2) to improve to 3-1-3. Scoring for the Spartans were Gunnar Brettell, David McDaniel and Josh Kinyo. Tom Beigel, Vince Carapellotti and Jack Rook had assists. Jacob Clevanger and Travis Shore combined for seven saves.
The U10 Boys Division 6 team are 5-0-1 after a 4-1 win against McGuffey. Scoring for the Spartans were Matthew Duff, Joseph Rohde, Bobby Rice and Jayden Oleksy. David Ferroni had an assist. Cole McCullough and Brandon Hiles combined for eight saves.
The U12 Girls defeated Carlynton 3-0 to improve to 3-0-2. Scoring for the Spartans were Sydney Starr and Allie Zapolnik. Jara Madzia and Zapolnik had assists. Theresa Duff and Emma Crites combined for four saves.
The U12 Boys remained unbeaten with a 3-1 win over South Fayette. Scoring for the Spartans were Juan Miguel Gonzalez, Mikey Irvin and Brennon Norris. Gonzalez, Kaleb Fenske and T.J. Brown had assists. Irvin and Ian Phillips combined for 10 saves.
The U14 Boys team (3-2) fell to Brookline 6-3. Scoring for the Spartans were Connor Pecar and Tyler Clevanger. Michael Wendt and Brandon DeLaratta had assists. Brien Beattie, Mason Pasiuk and Pecar combined for seven saves.

The league is open to those children who turn 4 on or before July 31 and no older than 13 on July 31. Fees are $75 for fall and $38 for spring or $103 for both seasons.
JKYSC also offers select soccer and TOPSoccer program for challenged athletes.
