FUS hosting sports camps

STEUBENVILLE - Franciscan University of Steubenville is offering summer sports camps. Focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and competitive training, six of FUS's NCAA Division III head coaches will direct beginner, individual, and team camps specializing in volleyball, soccer, tennis and basketball.

"Our vision is to help continue the integration of Franciscan athletics into the community," said John Lamanna, logistics coordinator for the summer camps and men's basketball coach, "while introducing new sports camps that provide more options for the youth here in the Ohio Valley."

Head volleyball coach Kelly Herrmann continues her years of camp success with six volleyball camp opportunities. Options of individual, beginner, and high school team camps are available. Herrmann's individual camps kick off the summer beginning June 11.

Soccer coaches Ward Rogers and Johann Marin are teaming up to bring back their high school team and specialized goalkeeper camps. Soccer goalkeepers from the ages 12-18 are encouraged to sign up for one-on-one training. All soccer camps will take place in July.

Head women's tennis coach Jenna Lynch is offering co-ed tennis camps for a wide range of local athletes. Morning youth camps span the ages of 4 through 11. Evening camps for junior high and high school athletes will take place in June.

Lamanna is joined by FUS assistant women's basketball coach Suzy Delaney in running camps from June through August. Athletes ages 4-12 are offered beginner or youth camp opportunities. A women's high school camp is offered June 4-6, while the men's high school camp information is provided upon request.

"We encourage all parents to sign up for camps early to ensure their son or daughter has a spot in his or her desired camp," added Lamanna. "We are already receiving many signups for all our camps, and space is limited."
