BOWN, Joan Craig, 67, of Wellsburg, passed away at Brightwood Nursing Home, Follansbee, on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Joan was the born on Oct. 29, 1944, in Wheeling, W.Va. She is the daughter of the Late Clem and Nina (Lazer) Craig.
She worked at Bethany College, the Court House, and Erskine Glass Factory of Wellsburg, as a secretary. Joan was a member at Franklin United Methodist Church and of the Beta Sigma Phil Sorority for 48 years. She was in Laureate Epsilon Kappa Chapter and will be missed by her loving sorority sisters.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Alan Bown of Wellsburg; two loving sons, Craig Alan (Fiancee Valaie Angney) Bown and Eric Hughes Bown, all of Bethany; two cherished granddaughters, Jessica Rose Bown and Shellby Ann Bown, both of Augusta, Ga.; one caring sister, Linda Laphen, of Youngwood Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday, May 14, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main St., Wellsburg.
A private graveside service and interment will be held at Franklin Cemetery with the Reverend Carl Tribett, officiating.
