To the editor:
In a few weeks, we will be celebrating Memorial Day, a day to honor the memory of our fallen heroes who gave their lives for this great nation.
Although many people enjoy the American way of life by having barbecues, picnics, visiting, doing yard work, etc., let us not forget the true meaning of Memorial Day.
Let us not forget the many brave men and women who sacrificed their lives so that we can do as we wish.
There are services held throughout the area every year. American Legion Posts 33 and 274, along with AMVETS Post 275, will conduct services at 9:30 a.m. at the Steubenville Marina and at 11 a.m. at Union Cemetery at 11 a.m. on May 28.
It would be uplifting to see many more people in attendance to pay tribute to our departed loved ones than in previous years.
