WILSON, Aria Baker, age 102, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Country Club Manor, Steubenville, Ohio.
Life began for Aria on June 19, 1909, in Baker County, Georgia, one of 17 children born to James Baker and Ossie Lyons Baker.
Aria moved to Steubenville at a young age and attended Steubenville Public Schools. She later married William (Willie) M. Wilson and was blessed with two children. She was a devoted wife, mother and home maker. She celebrated 60 years of marriage before William's death in 1986.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a member there for 70 years prior to moving her membership to Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church.
She was the oldest member of the Mount Carmel congregation and loved the church very much. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Wednesday Morning Meditation Prayer Group, Nurses Guild, Lend-a-Hand Club, Zion Singers, and the Senior Choir where she served as treasurer. She loved to sing gospel and sung duets with her daughter, Virginia, at various area churches. One of her favorite songs was "How I Got Over." She enjoyed cooking and having her children and grandchildren gather at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, William Jr., a great-grandson, Ricahrd Smith, 15 brothers and sisters, and a special nephew, and Robert Wilson.
She leaves to celebrate her homegoing a daughter, Virginia Robinson, Wintersville, Ohio, two grandchildren, Jacqueline Moore, Wintersville, Ohio, Ernest (Bubba) Robinson, five great-grandchildren, Rolland L. Owens Jr., Torchee Robinson, Tracey Lawrence, Tosha Robinson, and Ariane Robinson, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and four great- great- great-grandchildren, a sister, Sara Foreman and her loving family from Cleveland, Ohio. She was the matriarch of six generations. In celebration of her 100th birthday Oct. 5, 2009, was proclaimed as "Aria Wilson Day" in Steubenville by the mayor of the city.
Visitation will be held at Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church, 708 North 5th St., Steubenville, Ohio, Friday, May 11, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012, at noon.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
