TAUCHER, Louis R., of Eagleville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2012. He was 91 years old.
Born Jan. 7, 1921, in Bertha Mine, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Margaret (nee O'Hara) Taucher and the beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Paul) Taucher.
Louis was a 1939 graduate of Burgettstown High School and was an FCC Licensed Radio Technician. He served as a sergeant and radar mechanic in the 3rd Emergency Rescue Squadron in New Guinea and the Philippines during World War II.
Louis worked as an electrician at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Follansbee, W.Va., for over 30 years.
His hobbies were wood working, amateur radio operator and spending time with great-grandchildren and pets.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Burgettstown, Pa., and his current church was Visitation BVM Norristown, Pa.
Louis is survived by his daughters: Elizabeth (William) Grabania of West Chester, Mary Jane (Thomas) Pleva of Norristown, and Linda Taucher with whom he resided in Eagleville, four grandchildren: Dr Erin (Michael) Bastidas of Douglassville, Tara (Dave) DeCicco of Phoenixville, Thomas Pleva of Norristown, and Amy (Ethan) Comely of King of Prussia, three great-grandchildren: Austin and Brayden Bastidas and Bradley DeCicco, brothers: Eugene (Virginia) and Ray (Gale) all of Burgettstown, Pa., and sisters: Florence Mc Bride of Oakland Park, Fla., and Katherine Wolfe of Huntingdon, Pa.
Relatives and friends are invited to Louis's Life Celebration Service on Sunday, May 13 from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 8-9:15 a.m. at Boyd-Horrox of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike 1-800-GIVNISH.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Visitation BVM Church. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
