The Youngstown Connection, a group made up of college and high school age students who sing and dance to Broadway and patriotic tunes, will be the featured performers when the Franciscan University Women's Scholarship Guild hosts its annual fundraising event on May 15, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the J.C. Williams College Center on campus.
The group, which has been performing for a number of year in and out of the United States, is under the direction of Susan Baird.
In addition to the musical program, the guild will have activities such as a Chinese auction, drawing and door prizes.
The proceeds from the event will go toward the Rose M. DeFede Scholarship, which aids nontraditional women over the age of 22 in receiving aid to help to complete a degree and enter into the work force or to help recipients get upgraded in their place of employment.
Admission to the event is $5. It is open to the public. Groups are welcome and are asked to make a reservation by calling (740) 284-5861.
