Three transported following accident

WELLSBURG - At least three individuals were transported by medical helicopter or ambulance following an auto accident Saturday near the intersection of state Routes 27 and 2.

The names and conditions of the three weren't available early today from City Police, who were called to investigate.

The Brooke County Ambulance Service, Bethany Emergency Medical Service and a medical helicopter also were dispatched to the accident, which involved three vehicles.

Other details weren't available early today.

Relay for Life meeting Tuesday

STEUBENVILLE - A planning meeting for the 2012 Steubenville Area Relay for Life sponsored by the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Trinity Medical Center East board room.

Anyone is welcome to attend and learn how to become a volunteer or organize a team.

Team members are reminded to be registered on the relay website by Tuesday and that T-shirt information must be turned in.

Participants also are urged to bring to the Tuesday meeting their photos to submit for the luminaria ceremony slide show or they can be e-mailed to Kyle Elder, relay co-chair, at kylelder@gmail.com. Photos need to be submitted no later than May 18.

The relay that raises funds for cancer research, advocacy, education and patience services will be held June 22-23.
