STEUBENVILLE - The Central softball team defeated Weir 5-2 on senior night at Steve Zamana Field Thursday.
Crusaders head coach Jim DiCarlo glowed about his quartet of 12th-graders - Paige Creamer, Sara Moziejko, Allee Vandeborne and Kayla Lloyd.
"I can't express how appreciative I am for their senior leadership and how much they helped the younger players," said DiCarlo. "They were really nice and helpful with the underclassmen. They did a wonderful job providing senior leadership and dedication."

Creamer picked up the win in the circle with an 11-strikeout performance and helped herself at the plate with a single and two RBIs. Micca Mirabella added two singles.
For the Red Riders Danica Rasicci and Brianna Rosnick each had a single and an RBI.
Central (18-5) travels to Martins Ferry today for a doubleheader. Weir is preparing for its West Virginia Class AA Region 1 match up with Magnolia next Thursday.

Toronto stops Royals
TORONTO - The Toronto softball team beat visiting Jefferson County Christian School 13-3 Thursday.
Shane Sears picked up the win for the Red Knights, striking out five. She also added three singles at the plate with Mindy Meadows contributing two doubles.
The Royals received a two-single game from Fairynne Mathison.
Toronto (13-9), a winner of six straight, travels to Southern today.

CADIZ - The Harrison Central softball team ran its record to 15-7 with a 3-1 win over visiting Barnesville Thursday.
Katie Ellzy earned the win with eight strikeouts while scattering four hits. Kara Dunfee had a single, triple, and an RBI to lead the Huskies offensive attack.

Chad Wickham, Josh Pasek and Alec Jones each had two singles for the Wildcats with Koby Sronce adding a single.

Freshman Sean Smith picked up the win on the hill for the Redskins with Zach Williams pitching a scoreless sixth in relief. Ty Yocum had a double, triple and an RBI; Alex Young had a single, triple and an RBI; and Jordan Yeater had a triple and two RBIs.
