Creek defeats Big Red
STEUBENVILLE - The Indian Creek boys tennis team won two of the three singles matches and split the two doubles matches for a 3-2 victory over Steubenville Big Red Monday at Belleview Park.
In singles action, Fabio Mattina defeated Harold Malone 6-1, 6-2 and Shane Winland downed Aaron Bottegal 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. Big Red's Michael Nodianos beat Jared Conn 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles activity, the Redskins' Brandon Harrick and Justin Caniff defeated Brandon Llewellyn and Michael Petrides 0-6, 6-1, 6-3 and Big Red's Hannah Meyer and Tyler Casto blanked Caleb Smith and Josh Shield 6-0, 6-0.
Big Red is 2-12 and will host its final match of regular season Wednesday against East Liverpool.
DiCarlo earns honor
FAIRMONT, W.Va. - Former Steubenville Big Red cheerleader Danielle DiCarlo recently received Division II college cheerleading All-American status as a member of the Fairmont State squad at the national banquet this past weekend.
She is the daughter of Greg and Melanie DiCarlo and is studying health and science.
WRYSL to hold sign-ups
WEIRTON - The WRYSL will hold registration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 12 and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 15 at the J.C. Williams Soccer Complex. A birth certificate is required for players, ages 5-13.
