Auxiliary to hold breakfast Saturday
COLLIERS - The Colliers Fire Department Auxiliary will hold its last pancake breakfast for the season from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
The cost is $6 for the meal, which includes all the pancakes you can eat, scrambled eggs, sausage and coffee or juice. Waffles also will be available.
Wine tasting to benefit United Way
WELLSBURG - The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley-Brooke County will hold a wine tasting from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 12 at the Wellsburg Elks Lodge.
Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25 and may be purchased at the Brooke County Library or Linda Caldrone at the Wellsburg WesBanco.
Proceeds will go to civic organizations serving Brooke County residents.
Church to hold rummage sale
WEIRTON - St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Three Springs Drive will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon May 5.
Rabies clinic scheduled May 6
IMPERIAL, Pa. - Animal Care and Welfare Inc. will hold a rabies clinic on May 6 from noon to 3 p.m. at PA Fitness West, 650 Penn Lincoln Drive.
The cost is $10 for rabies shots, $30 for microchips and $8 for nail clipping.

Spay-neuter clinic planned in June
WINTERSVILLE - The Brooke County Animal Welfare League will host a Roaming Animal Sterilization Clinic At low-cost June 2 and 3 at the Jefferson County Airpark.
All area residents may bring cats and dogs to be spayed and neutered. Pre-payment is required. There will be no walk-in services or vaccinations available.

Tour of historic homes offered
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will hold a Spring Historic Homes Tour on May 5.
The tours will start at the library at 945 Main St. with a presentation of the original pictures of the homes and a brief history.
The cost is $20, which includes a tour of the Beallmore mansion, the Benjamin Harvey House and Aspen Manor Resort. where hors d'oeuvres will be served.

The Benjamin Harvey House is a two-story Victorian home built in 1880. Its original owner was a businessman and paper manufacturer in Wellsburg. It's currently owned by Beverly Kemp, a retired school teacher.
The Beallmore Mansion is a Neo-Classical and Neo-Colonial mansion built in 1907 by Wiley Beall.
Aspen Manor was once known as Vancroft Mansion. Located on 600 acres, it was a summer home of J.B. Vandergrift, the playboy son of J.J. Vandergrift, a wealthy Industrialist. It included an opium den, bowling alley, swimming pool and theme rooms inspired by the Orient and Turkey and showcasing pictures of presidents and Native Americans.
