STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Governing Board approved several employment recommendations made by Superintendent Joy Howell during a brief monthly meeting Tuesday.
Among the employee approvals were Kelley Mill, Pam Miller and Delores Sprag, who will serve as practical nurse assistants in the local school districts.
The board also approved Tracy Atwood, Amber Basich, Deborah Cosgrove, Beth Kirk and Michelle Trikones to serve as personal assistants in area school districts.
Also, Andrew Mathieu was hired as a personal assistant for an Indian Creek High School student with physical impairments. And William Kerr was hired for a one-year contract as the alternative school resource officer effective Aug. 1.
Additional employees approved include:
Alison Dukich as social educator and alternative school case manager.
Clyde DeAngelo as a supervisor for special education.
Bonnie Moore, David Moore, Rebecca DeVendra and Bonnie DiNapoli on an as-needed basis in the Virtual Learning Academy curriculum development and enhancement project.
Kristina Ash as the VLA outreach coordinator.
Michelle Rubalcava as a customer relations and assistant marketing agent.
Cara Siragusano as an intern in the VLA department.
Jennifer Bruce as a VLA teacher.
Ken Dawson as a substitute custodian.
In other business, the board:
Accepted the initial list of substitute teachers for the 2012-13 school year and approved Dr. William Johns for administering school bus drivers' physical examination.
Approved an ESC service contract with the Buckeye Local, Edison Local, Indian Creek Local, Harrison Hills City, Toronto City and Steubenville City school districts for the 2012-13 school year.
Approved a $30 gift certificate for each secretary in the ESC offices in recognition of Administrative Professionals Day on April 25.
Approved annual membership dues for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
The next ESC meeting is set for 10:30 a.m. on May 14.
