STEUBENVILLE -- Dozens of firefighters from several area fire departments battled a vacant house blaze for nearly an hour Tuesday morning.
The fire at 1409 State St. was termed, "suspicious" by Assistant Fire Chief Sam Ivkovich.
Steubenville Firefighters were joined at the scene by firefighters from Mingo Junction and Wintersville as well as several off-duty city firefighters.

Steubenville Fire Captain/Inspector Tom Burchfield uses a water hose to extinguish flames at the rear of a burning house on State Street.
Ivkovich said firefighters from Hillndale manned the West End Fire Station while Weirton firefighters manned the North Street headquarters fire station.
Ivkovich said two individuals were trying to enter the burning house when firefighters first arrived on the scene.
The blaze remains under investigation.
Ivkovich said the house is a total loss.
