WEIRTON - The Weirton Madonna tennis tennis teams defeated visiting St. Clairsville Monday at Starvaggi Park, 6-1 (boys) and 4-3 (girls).
The Blue Dons swept the singles matches as Nick Conforti nipped Bryce Bonnette 9-8 (7-5), Matt Conforti beat Chris Baker, 8-1, Anthony Clements beat Cadem Myers and Alan Alimario defeated Izaac Wiley by 8-5 scores.
In doubles activity, Conforti and Conforti beat Bonnette and Myers, 8-3, Clements and Alimaria topped Izaac Fillarn and Chris Baker, 8-1, and St. Clairsville's Alexander Trouten and Danielle DeNoble downed Dom Clements and Dustin Parr, 8-1.
The singles matches were split in the girls competition.
Madonna's Ali Welch beat Samantha Hodgson, 8-0, and Tina Conforti topped Brittany Rauschenberg, 8-3, and St. Clairsville's Paige Dennis nipped Amy Davis 9-8 (7-2) and Kylie Kleinendorst beat Lisa Parkins, 8-3.
In doubles activity, Davis and Parkins defeated Dennis and Hodgson, 8-2, and Welch and Conforti beat Kleinendorst and Rauschenber, 8-3, and St. Clairsville's Katelin Gandee and Morgan Young beat Taylor Himmerlick and Morgan Duerr, 8-4.
Bears defeat Creek
CHESTER - The Oak Glen boys tennis team knocked off Indian creek, 5-2, Monday at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort.
Fabio Mattina was a part of both wins by the Redskins. He beat Tyler Brown, 8-4, and teamed with Shane Winland to down Brown and Zach Brown, 9-7.
For Oak Glen, Zach Brown beat Winland and Addison Sayre beat Jared Conn by 8-3 scores, and Alex Bennett topped Brandon Hammack, 8-1.
In doubles, Bennett and Sayre defeated Conn and Hammick, 8-2, and Nick Tice and Teddy Adkins beat Justin Caniff and Caleb Smith, 8-5.
