Wildcats sweep Panthers
CADIZ - The Edison baseball team took the drive to Cadiz and came away with a two-game sweep of Harrison Central, 10-0 and 13-4.
In game one Wildcats' pitcher Greg Stagani gave up just two hits in six innings while striking out 13 Huskies and walking none. Josh Pasek and Nolan Marcus each drove in two runs. Pasek had three singles and Marcus two. Koby Sronce had a double and RBI, Mark Smyth a single and rbi, and Alec Jones a double and single.
Hunter Yarnell and Rhett Kuryn had singles for the Huskies.
Sronce picked up the game two win for the Wildcats going five frames with Jones closing out the game's final two innings. Pasek and Jones each had a double and two RBI at the plate. Stagani had two singles and a RBI, Marcus a double and RBI, Smyth a single and RBI, and Phil Hilt a single.
Rasheen Mitchell had two singles for the Huskies with Nick Pelegreen and Ryan Rose each picking a single.
Edison (12-2) hosts Martins Ferry Monday.

Redskins stop Jets
MORRISTOWN - Fans of offensive numbers were in for a treat Saturday in Morristown as Indian Creek swept Union Local. In game one the Redskins topped the Jets 18-1 in five innings and in game two a football game broke out on the diamond with Creek winning by a field goal, 22-19.
Cole Yeater went the distance in the game one win, striking out two and giving up just four singles. Alex Young and Tanner Wise each drove in three runs with Jimmy Bolyog, Zach Williams, Anthony Davis, and Sean Smith each knocking in two.
In Game two the Redskins found themselves down 17-4 after four innings before scoring 10 in the top of the fifth to prevent the mercy rule ending and outscoring the Jets 8-2 over the final two frames to claim the 22-19 win.
Young drove in five runs to lead the offensive charge with Sammy Orr and Ty Yocum each knocking in four, and Bolyog, Wise, and Davis each picking up two RBI.

Big Red wins two
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red baseball team took a claimed a pair of contest Saturday at Vaccaro Field. In the first game Big Red defeated Maysville 8-7 and in the second it downed Claymont 9-6.
Against Maysville Matt Petrella started and struck out four with JoJo Pierro coming on in relief in the fifth and picking up the win. Lucky McClurg drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a single. McClurg had two singles and two RBI in the game. John Linn smacked two triples and drove in a run, Michael Camilletti had a double and two RBI, and Justin Corsi and Mason Heatherington each had a single and a RBI.
JoJo Pierro again picked up the win on the hill in game two, this time as the starter, going seven innings and striking out nine. He helped his own cause with a single, double, and four RBI. Camilletti and Bryan Pierro each had two singles and knocked in a run and McClurg added two singles.

Toronto splits a pair
AKRON - The Toronto baseball team traveled to Copley high school and split a pair of games, dropping a 5-1 to host Copley in game one and winning 7-5 over Waynedale in game two.
In game one Spenser Sninchak hit a home run and had a single for the Red Knights.
Game two saw saw freshman Nate Stewart get the start before being relieved by Ralph King in the fourth. King earned the decision. Sninchak had three singels and a RBI, Austin Lucas had two singles and a rbi, and John Romey had a single and a RBI. Tyler Antinone had two singels as well.
Toronto (9-4) is at Buckeye Trail Monday.

MCMECHEN - The Central baseball team split two with homestanding Bishop Donahue Saturday. The Crusaders won game one 3-1 and the Bishops took game two 9-8.
The Crusaders received a great effort on the mound from Jimmy Panella who struck out 11 and surrendered just three hits in the game one win.
Brannt Pieniazek blasted a home run and added a single to lead Central at the plate.
In the game two loss Brenton Colabella smacked a home run to go with a single with Jimmy Panella adding a double and a single.
Central (10-4) is in action again Monday at home against Oak Glen. The teams will complete a game from earlier in the season that is in the fifth with Central up 3-2 and when finished will play a full game.
