RAYLAND - A day after Buckeye Local handed Harrison Central a loss on its home field the Huskies returned the favor, knocking off the Panthers on the road 3-2 Friday.
Katie Ellzy struck out nine in picking up the win for Harrison and helped her own cause with a home run and two RBI. Katie Parkinson picked up two singles and a RBI while Jana Fenstamaker and Kara Dunfee each had singles.
Dana Bettineschi led the Panthers with a triple, single, and RBI. Karlee Leonard drove in a run with a single and Taryn Tonkovich had two singles.

Toronto routs Southern
TORONTO - The Toronto softball team defeated Southern at home 11-0 in five innings Friday.
Shane Sears threw a gem in the circle for the Red Knights striking out seven, walking one, and giving up only three hits. Amy Pahl had a two-run single for the Red Knights as eight different Toronto players reached base with a hit.
Toronto (7-7) is on the road Monday at Bridgeport.

Brooke rallies past Weir
WELLSBURG - The Brooke softball team trailed visiting Weir 5-0 after four and a half before scoring six in the bottom of the fifth and holding on to claim a 6-5 win Friday.
Kaylee Kuchinski went the distance for the Bruins, striking out 10 in the win. Jessica Kennedy had a pair of singles with Kuchinski and Kelsey Welsh each had a single and a RBI.
Miekka Buffo had a triple and a single, Danica Rasicci had a double and a single, and Taylor Gianangeli had two singles for the Red Riders.
Both teams play today with Brooke (6-12) hosting Martins Ferry and Weir heading to Madonna to determine the city championship at 1:15.

CAMERON - The Madonna softball team dropped a 5-1 decision at Cameron Friday.
Courtney Moss hit a triple to lead the Blue Dons and Amanda Pulice went the distance striking out four in the circle.

Redskins hold on for win
WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek softball team withstood a furious St. Clairsville five-run rally in the top of the seventh to hold on for a 10-9 victory Friday.
Paige Geanangel ripped the cover off the ball to the tune of two home runs and two singles while driving in three runs for the Redskins. Ashley Starr, who picked up the win in the circle, added a single, double, and RBI with Keasha Barz and Brey Mays each chipping in wiht two singles and a double. Barz also had a RBI. Mallorie Sullivan picked up two singles and a RBI as well.

AKRON - The Central softball team began the Akron Invitational in impressive fashion Friday with a 14-1 win over Windham.
Paige Creamer picked up the win, going three innings striking out six, walking none and surendering no runs. Maddie Gulan had a single, double and two RBI and Sammi Giannamore had two singels while driving in two runs as well.
The Crusaders (11-2) continue in the Akron Invitational today.

Bruins blank Big Red
STEUBENVILLE - The Brooke boys tennis team put forth a dominant effort Friday sweeping the singles and doubles matches en route to a 5-0 win over Big Red.
In singles Mathias Nail beat Aaron Bottegal 6-3 and 6-3, Brice Hickey defeated Michael Nodianos 6-1 and 6-2, and Josh Harrick topped Josh Fordham 6-0 and 6-2.
In doubles Brian Gialluco and Jackson Carey defeated Brandon Llewellyn and Harold Malone 6-1 and 6-0 while Bryce Kessling and Ryan Mezan topped Tyler Casto and Hannah Meyer with a pair of 6-0 scores.
