TORONTO - The semi-annual citywide garage sale is set for the weekend of May 4-6.
The event, which will proceed rain or shine, will include residents of the city selling items in yards and garages, according to Wendy Coghe, organizer.
"I'm currently gathering a list of participants for this year's sale," said Coghe, adding those wishing to participate should call her with address information at (740) 537-3271 by April 25 to participate. "(Those leaving messages) should leave their name and phone number, and I will contact them at my earliest convenience. Businesses and organizations are more than welcome to participate."
Coghe said there is no cost to participate, although donations to cover costs are appreciated and can be sent to Wendy Coghe, 508 Euclid Ave., Toronto, OH 43952.
"As in the past, I will be posting fliers that include a map and list of the participating yard sales at local businesses," she continued. "In addition, (yard sale) customers will be able to pick up a copy of the flier at Riesbeck's grocery, Special Way grocery, the City Municipal Building and at some participating yard sales."
Coghe also said those participating are free to host yard sales one day or the other, or both days if they choose.
"In addition to our fliers, (participants) also can post their own signs promoting their sale if they don't live on a busy street," said Coghe. "It's entirely up to the seller. If they don't have anything to sell they could host a bake sale instead.
"This event will happen rain or shine," continued Coghe. "I hope to hear from everyone soon, and I'm looking forward to once again seeing the city of Toronto come together as a community. With everyone's help and participation we can hopefully make this happen for many years to come."
