Golden Bears whip Potters
EAST LIVERPOOL -The Oak Glen baseball team pounded out 16 hits en route to a 15-1 win in five innings Wednesday at East Liverpool.
Steve Barr was the winning pitcher. He struck out nine, walked three and allowed one run on four hits in four innings of work.
"It was a real good day," Oak Glen head coach Lou Nagy said. "Our bats are coming alive. That is the big thing. It is always fun to play those kids because everybody knows everybody."
Bub Haddon ripped three singles for four RBIs. Jeff Hissam contributed a single, a double, a home run and two RBIs. Barr recorded a double and two RBIs. Also, Trey Smith tallied a single and a double, Tyler Steed collected two singles and a double and Brandon Englehart tripled.
Oak Glen plays Monday at Catholic Central. The Golden Bears and Crusaders will finish a game before playing a second one. Catholic Central leads the suspended game, 3-2, in the fifth inning.

Creek falls to Devils
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The St. Clairsville softball team handed Indian Creek its first lost in Buckeye 8 play with a 4-2 victory Wednesday afternoon.
The Red Devils scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning off losing pitcher Ashley Starr and made it hold up. St. Clairsville is 5-6.
Starr and Paige Geanangel each had two singles for Indian Creek (10-2). Paige DeMattio added a double and an RBI.
The Redskins host Martins Ferry today.

Crusaders nip Knights
STEUBENVILLE - The Toronto softball team scored three times in the top of the fifth inning and once in the seventh, but fell just short to Steubenville Catholic Central Wednesday at Steve Zamana Field.
The Crusaders raised their record to 9-2 with the 6-5 victory.
Lara Householder picked up the win, She fanned five and walked four in five innings. Paige Creamer pitched the last two.
Taylor Clark totaled three RBIs on two singles. Sammi Giannamore added two singles and Micca Mirabella a single, double and an RBI.
Mariah Turner had a double and two RBIs for the Red Knights (5-7). Maddie Stoica and Brittany Yanok each had a single and RBI.

Devils defeat Redskins
ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The St. Clairsville baseball team took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, scored twice and then added five in the sixth for an 11-3 victory Wednesday over visiting Indian Creek.
Sammy Orr ripped a home run for the Redskins, who committed seven errors. Jimmy Bolyog added a double.

Riders lose to Potters
WEIRTON - The East Liverpool boys tennis team defeated Weir High, 5-2, Tuesday at Starvaggi Park.
Weir's Shane Davis beat Nick DiLoreto, 8-4, and Blake Cassels and Nick Village earned an 8-4 win in doubles.
In singles play for the Potters, Nick Harris beat Alex Hannah, 8-5, Craig Miller topped Chad Hensley, 8-3, Alex Hoeffler beat Stephen White, 8-0.
In doubles, Harris and Hoeffler nipped Hannah and Hensley, 9-7, and Miller and Joey Bickerton defeated Matt Barnes and Stephen Maragos, 8-5.
