RICHMOND - Junior Kiley Staley ripped a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning and that was the difference as the Harrison Central softball team went back to Cadiz with a 3-1 victory over host Edison Tuesday at Jefferson Lake State Park.
Edison scored a run in the bottom of the third inning for a 1-1 score.
Freshman Katie Ellzy earned the win. She struck out eight and walked two. Brooke Shultz added a pair of doubles. Harrison Central entertains Buckeye Local today.
Kristin Prokopakis had two singles and Molly McCoy a single and double for the Wildcats, who host Steubenville today.
Both teams had seven hits.

Panthers win 10th
STEUBENVILLE - Buckeye Local scored nine times in the top of the fourth inning and went on to beat host Steubenville Big Red, 21-8, Tuesday, earning the Panthers their 10th win of the season.
Big Red had an answer for Buckeye Local through two innings, when the Panthers held a 9-7 lead.
Karlee Leonard led Buckeye Local's offense with two singles, a double and a three-run homer for five RBIs. Kaylee Decesare added three singles, Taryn Tonkovich three singles and two RBIs and Kierstyn Czuchran a single and double.
Sierra Fields had a single and a home run for Big Red.

Toronto beats Bishops
TORONTO - The Toronto softball team used a big fifth inning and a strong pitching performance to a 9-1 home victory over Bishop Donahue Tuesday.
The Red Knights broke open a 3-1 game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth and Carrie Horne threw a complete game four hitter that saw her strike out six and walk only two.
Horne and Brittany Anderson both had two singles to lead Toronto offensively. Madison Stoica added a double.
Toronto (5-6) travels to Steubenville Central today.

Brooke drops tough one
WELLSBURG - The Brooke baseball team came back from a 5-1 deficit at home to take a 6-5 lead after five innings only to ultimately drop a 7-6 decision to University when the visitors scored one run in each of the sixth and seventh frames.
Steven Jeffries had a single and a three-run home run to lead the Bruins. Austin Schambach had three singles and two RBI and Heath Hildreth picked up a pair of singles.
Brooke (8-7) heads to Magnolia today.
