GROSE, Melvin Ray (Mel), age 81, of Reedsville, Ohio, a former Toronto area resident, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at his home in Reedsville.
He was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Toronto, Ohio, the son of the late Walter and Orva Collins Grose.
Melvin was a member of an Assembly's of God Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was retired as a welder from the Harrod and Carter Stone Quarry Co. of Frankfort, Ky., and had served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Paul, Byrl and Jack Grose; sisters, Ruby Elder, Goldie Baille, Willie Hilderbrand, Winnie Huff, Wanda Randolf and Nona Slentz; son-in-law, Thomas Ellens.
He is survived by his daughters, Janice R. Ellens of Bellevue, Neb., Theresa Payne of Frankfort, Ky., and Orva (Gary) Quisenbury of Cynthiana, Ky.; sons, Steven R. Grose of Reedsville, Ohio, and Billy K. (Marsha) Grose of South Carolina; grandchildren, Stephanie and Kimberly Ellens of Bellevue, Neb., Amanda Stevens, Samantha Payne and Rebecca Payne of Frankfort, Ky.; Misty Grose and Steve Grose; Lisa and Tracey Quisenbury; brother- in-law, Butch (Carolyn) Randolf; and several great-grand children.

A celebration service of Melvin's life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday April 12 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Hallberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery where there will be full military honors by the Toronto American Legion.
