McGEEHAN, J. Peter, 61, of Richmond, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, after a five- year struggle with cancer.
Peter was born Oct. 31, 1950, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late James Daniel McGeehan and Mary Margaret Peter, who resides at Lancia Villa Royale Nursing Home.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick McGeehan and aunt, Von Stuckemeyer.
Pete was a graduate of Jefferson Union High School, received his bachelor's degree from Franciscan University and master's degree from Dayton University. He was Catholic by faith. He was a former social studies teacher at the JVS, track coach at Indian Creek, and enjoyed officiating high school track meets. He was employed by Sears for many years.
Pete was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers, he also really enjoyed learning about the Civil War and its history. He loved his Irish heritage and like his father had the gift of the Blarney. He really loved his dog, Tia. Pete, maintained his sense of humor until the very end.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Von (John) Holmes of Steubenville; uncle, Les Stuckemeyer of Wintersville; four nephews, Adam Schnieder of Chicago, IL, Greg Holmes, Scott Holmes and Luke Holmes all of Steubenville.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville, on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m.
Private interment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
