STEUBENVILLE -- Second Ward Councilman Rick Perkins asked his colleagues Tuesday night to approve legislation next week to proceed with several building demolitions.
The ordinance proposed by Perkins at the request of the city Planning and Zoning Commission will see the city advertise for bids for demolition of properties at 412 Hill Ave., 529 Railroad Ave., 619 Linden Ave., 620 Grandview Ave., 129 S. Seventh St., 131 S. Seventh St., 532 N. Sixth St. and 322-324 S. Commercial Alley.
Those building demolitions will be paid for with Community Development Block Grant funds.
The ordinance also calls for the demolition of buildings at 1527 State St.,1627 State St., 503 Cedar Ave. and 537 Union Ave. for demolition using city funds.
The city's Urban Projects Office has already awarded demolition bids to the Mike Pusateri Excavating Company of East Liverpool for demolition of properties at 102 Capitol Ave., 128 Butte St., 321-323 Marsh Alley, 903 Pittsburgh St., 222-224 N. Ninth St., 718 Highland Ave., 512 Mears Ave. and 1032 McNeal Ave.
In other business Sixth Ward Councilman David Lalich introduced two ordinances amending the city's operating budget and the revenue tax budget after adjustments were made following the first quarter of the year.
