William Churchman

CHURCHMAN, William B. "Bill," 61, of Toronto, Ohio passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Trinity Medical Center-West, Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born December 15, 1950 in Steubenville, Ohio the son of the late Clarence W. "Pete" Churchman and Betty B. Byrd Churchman.

Bill was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church of Toronto; member, Past Master and Lodge Education Officer of the Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F&AM; member and Past High Priest of the Toronto Royal Arch Masons #221; member and Past Worthy Patron of the Toronto Order of Eastern Star #215; 39-year member and past secretary-treasurer of the Toronto Volunteer Fire Department; 1968 graduate of Toronto High School.

He was retired as a Technician in the Instrument and Test Department at the Stratton, Ohio First Energy Power Plant

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and wife Dawna Jean Barz Churchman who passed away in 2004 and whom he married February 28, 1987.

His survivors are his son Jared S. (Mallory) Churchman of Steubenville, Ohio; daughter Ashley M. Churchman of Toronto, Ohio; brother Lee (Regina) Churchman of Toronto, Ohio; sisters Ruth (James) Oliveto of Wheeling, West Virginia and Susan Churchman of Huntington, California; grandchildren Sophie, Halle and Alaina; nephew Grayson Churchman; niece Ellie Churchman. Also surviving are his maternal aunt Nancy Smith of Toronto, Ohio, and his maternal uncle Raymond Harris of Leesburg, Fla.

Friends and family will gather for visitation from noon to 3 p.m. and from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto. Masonic Services 6 p.m. Sunday. Eastern Star Services 7 p.m. Sunday and the Toronto Volunteer Fire Department Services 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A celebration service of Bill's life will be held 10 a.m. Monday March 5 at the Riverview United Methodist Church, North River Avenue, Toronto, with Pastor Josh Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the Riverview United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 248, Toronto, OH 43964.
