To the editor:
The Indian Creek Local School District desperately needs a new high school. The current high school is old and outdated. Also, the student population has greatly outgrown the small building; many classes are outside. These details present students with many dangers every day.
Before it was Indian Creek High School, the building was Wintersville High School, and since then, not many aspects of the school have changed. The walls are the same. It is essentially the same school, from the lockers to the boiler heating system. Basically, the only things that have been changed are the paint and the people who occupy the school.
The student body is so large that there is no room in the main building for all of the classes. The other classes are held in portables outside the school. These portables were intended to be temporary, but instead have become permanent aspects of the school. These portables pose many dangers to students and faculty alike. Students have to walk to classes in all weather conditions, from heat to heavy rain to even snow and ice. The portables also mean that, because of students walking to and from classes outside, the doors of the school have to remain unlocked, and are sometimes even kept wide open. Any stranger could easily enter the school.
Because of these, and many other reasons, the Indian Creek School District is in desperate need of a new high school. Make sure to vote "yes" on this very important issue.
