SPERRINGER, Helen Marion Litva, 97, of Wellsburg, W.Va.
One of nine children born to the late Thomas Litva and Helena Pohancanic Litva. She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Connersville, Ohio, and was a Catholic by faith.
Along with her husband, she owned BC Grocery on Bethany Pike, Wellsburg, W.Va., from 1948-1982. She was also employed by Hammond Pulp and Paper Co. in Wellsburg until 1937.
Helen died peacefully at home on Feb. 14, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Thearl Albion "Red" Sperringer, in 1976; her sons, Dale Wayne Sperringer in 2003 and Robert "Bobby" Allen Sperringer in 1948; three brothers, Thomas Litva, John Litva and Joseph Litva; and two sisters, Marie Mihlbauer and Margie Molnar.
She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and friend with a heart of gold and always ready to help those in need. All who met her, will always remember her unforgettable smile.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory three sisters: Anna Russell of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Bertha Baranek of Dillonvale, Ohio, and Agnes Yatsko of Follansbee, W.Va.; five children, Gloria Pramesa of Wellsburg, W.Va., Richard Sperringer of Astor, Fla., Sylvia Taylor of Wellsburg, W.Va., Patricia Sauvageot of Follansbee, W.Va., and Terence Sperringer of Canonsburg, Pa.; 30 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 17 at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg, W.Va., from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where a Christian wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Follansbee, W.Va., at 10 a.m. with Rev. Pete Giannamore as celebrant. Interment will be at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery in Beech Bottom.
