Road work annunced for Brooke, Hancock
The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced road work to be performed next week, pending suitable weather.
In Hancock County, crews will be patching Dry Run, Mosco, Ferndale and Flat Cemetery roads and ditching along Frankfort Road, Westlake Lane and Spruce Street.
In Brooke County, crews will be patching state Route 27, stabilizing shoulders along state Route 88 and pulling shoulders and ditches in the Windy Hill-Hukills Run area.
Relay for Life meeting Tuesday
STEUBENVILLE - A planning meeting for the 2012 Steubenville Area Relay for Life sponsored by the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Trinity East board room.
Anyone is welcome to attend and learn how to become a volunteer or organize a team.
Other planning sessions are set for March 13, April 10, May 8 and June 12, all of them at the same time and location.
Committee meeting will be scheduled as needed on those dates, beginning at 6 p.m.
The relay that raises funds for cancer research, advocacy, education and patience services will be held June 22-23.

Steubenville Police investigate stabbing
STEUBENVILLE - Police are investigating an alleged stabbing that happened overnight Friday.
The victim was walking home after exiting the Speedway gas station located on North Third Street when he was followed and subsequently attacked and stabbled multiple times in the back and head, according to reports.
Reports indicate that the attacker possibly followed the victim out of the gas station.
Police are looking for a black male about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds wearing a black coat and black toboggan.
Police said they believe the victim may be able to identify his attacker and hope he will follow up with detectives, mentioning the victim stated he had saw the man earlier before the attack.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to reports.
