Dorothy Wise

WISE, Dorothy Marie (Manning) Wise, 88, of Follansbee, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Wyngate Senior Living Community, Weirton, W.Va.

She was the daughter of the late Ruble and Nellie (Lantz) Manning.

Dorothy was a graduate of Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Indiana University and Temple University. She served in the United States Army as a nurse.

Dorothy worked at the Temple University Blood Bank, then at the Ohio Valley Hospital Blood Bank, and was the office manger at her husband's medical practice of Dr. James E. Wise, and then for Dr. Michael P. Giannamore and Dr. James Petrola. She was a volunteer at the Ohio Valley Hospital OB Clinic.

Dorothy was a dedicated member of the Follansbee United Methodist Church and a council member, a member of the 20th Century Club, United Methodist Women Organization and GG.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James E. Wise; one son, Jim Wise Jr.; a daughter, Debi Wise; and a brother, Edwin Manning.

Dorothy is survived by her three loving daughters, Kathy (Bob) Tokas of Weirton, Pam (Dan) Welsh of Follansbee, and Susan (Kevin) Connolly of Toronto, Ohio; six grandchildren, James Tokas Jr., Brian Welsh, Courtney Tokas, Adam (Olivia) Welsh, Kasey Connolly, and Megan Connolly; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn Rae, Onna Lee, Adalynne Marie, and Isabella Marie; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A public visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, from 3:30 p.m. until time of funeral service at 4 p.m. at the Follansbee United Methodist Church, 1002 Virginia Ave., Follansbee, W.Va., with the Reverend Penny Calmbacher, officiating.

Entombment will be held privately on Monday, Feb. 11, 2012, with full military honors by the Ohio Valley Memorial Squad at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee.
