Umpire class to be held

WEIRTON - The Weirton Umpire Association will offer a baseball umpire class beginning Feb. 6 at the Millsop Community Center. Applicants may also be eligible for OHSAA Baseball/Softball permit through a class offered by the Columbiana County Umpire Association.

Softball league to hold registration

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Girls Softball Association will hold registration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 4 at the YMCA. The cost is $40 for the first girl and $20 for each additional girl.

Junior Crusaders down the Spartans

WEIRTON - The St. Joseph Spartan JV basketball team lost to Bishop John King Mussio White, 33-27, in Parochial League action at the Dube Dome. Tony Sellitti led all scorers with 17 points for the Spartans while Dom Mazur added five. The Junior Crusaders were paced by A.J. Conner with 15 points and Chris Long with five.

Junior Bears to hold sign-ups

NEW CUMBERLAND - The Oak Glen Junior Bears Baseball/Softball league will have sign-ups from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the City Building. The cost is $45 for the first child (with additional fundraiser), $35 for the second child, and $25 for the third child.
