Look at the despicable media

January 29, 2012
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

John Edwards is not exactly a man of high moral character and does not deserve to be considered for the presidency. This is a fact that I am sure that 99 percent of us can agree upon.

Having said this, I have just a few questions for the Republican Party and Newt Gingrich. My first question is, can you tell me one thing that Edwards did that Gingrich did not do and do twice as much of? Second, did Edwards ever once blame his love of country or the despicable media for his inability to keep his pants from malfunctioning and allowing him to have sex with two women who were not his wife?

Next, are you a Gingrich supporter? If you, in fact, are, have you ever seen a hypocrite? If you have not, I would simply direct you to the closest mirror. There's one.

If you do not see yourself as a hypocrite and support Gingrich, then, logically, you must change one position or the other. You cannot hold two contrary positions at the same time. Someone should make this point to Gingrich and Mitt Romney, by the way.

All of this brings me to my next point. Statements such as "Anyone but Obama" are purposefully offensive minded for one simple reason - there is no defense for their leaders.

Attack, attack, attack, for the simple reason that you have no defense. This is the difference between the opposing sides of these issues. Believe me, because I certainly have played some defense in this arena.

Take the auto loan as an example. Money paid back -Ford is No. 1. That's defense, even if it was a really easy play.

The other side has a lobbyist who claims to be a corporate historian (there are lots of those around) and a corporate raider who claims to be a job creator. The right has bought this fish story hook, line and sinker, or for you hunters, lock, stock and barrel.

The truth is corporate raiders, much like Romney, raided Weirton Steel, saddled the company with massive debt as they improved their investment by spending furiously on new equipment, all the while planning on bankruptcy and selling off a newly refurbished mill. They made a killing and skipped away.

It's not class warfare until we fight back. Middle class people need to stop being tools of corporations and the wealthy. I guarantee you that Romney, Gingrich, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and the Koch brothers laugh at you for swallowing this crap. Albeit behind closed doors, to your face you are Brainiac Fives. Money is not free speech, and corporations are not people, no matter how much Republicans have stacked the not-so-Supreme Court. As Daffy Duck says, despicable who?
