To the editor:
West Virginia should be very proud of its accomplishment with the facelift on the Market Street Bridge. It took millions of dollars that Sen. Joe Manchin was able to secure through federal funding.
Steubenville and Jefferson County residents are the recipients of much hard labor on this project. Manchin should be commended for all of his hard work. I never thought I would live to see such a wonderful asset to the Ohio Valley. We all have much to be proud of in the valley. Most of us sit back and complain about what we don't have in the area. Now we have a beautiful bridge to show off.
I work at the Schiappa branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County and often have out-of-town visitors come in to do family research. I wear many hats in my position. One of those hats is for tourism. I am proud to send tourists to see many area attractions such as Fort Steuben, the land office and now, the beautiful Market Street Bridge.
Whoever came up with the idea of the lighting should be commended. This was a wonderful addition. Whoever thought that little Steubenville would have such a wonderful asset with its 107-year-old bridge? I drive over the bridge and feel like I am in a big city somewhere. Thank you West Virginia and Sen. Manchin.
