BRILLIANT - The Wells Township trustees during a recent reorganizing meeting selected Trustee John Cook as chairman and Trustee Larry Ellis as vice chairman.
Trustee Larry Owens was appointed to serve on the Jefferson County Board of Health.
Ellis was appointed as representative, and Cook as alternate, to the Jefferson County Regional Planning Commission.
The trustees approved the 2012 meetings schedule, with regular meetings to be held at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. It was noted that the second meetings of March and August will be held in Rush Run, and the second meetings of May and October will be held in Plum Run.
Trustees also approved Ohio Township Association dues, to pay the expenses of elected officials to attend the OTA conventions.
In other matters, the trustees authorized the road foreman to temporarily hire personnel he deems necessary in an emergency and to report to the trustees and fiscal officer as soon as possible.
Trustees hire and dismiss all nonemergency full- and part-time employees, it was noted.
In other business:
Malcolm Fellows was appointed as representative to the Firefighters' Dependents Fund Board.
Joseph Matthews, fiscal officer, was appointed as purchasing agent for the township.
It was noted that liability insurance covers the pool parking lot, the baseball field, the "haunted house" and all township facilities.
Approved paying $125 in dues for the Jefferson County Regional Planning Commission.
