The Indian Creek High School Key Club gave away recycled water bottles at the Dec. 29 girl’s basketball game as part of a continued effort from a $1,000 grant the club received from the JB Green Team. The Key Club received more than 1,000 bottles to be given away to encourage the use of the paper, plastic and glass recycling bins, located behind the school, from which the club receives money for the recycled materials. Julie Robinson, Key Club adviser, said they recycle around 14,000 pounds of paper per year and receive about $1,500 for the materials. Next year, a youth governing board will be established for the distribution of that money, and the board will decide on project requests from teachers, administrators and coaches, said Robinson.
