WEIRTON - Eugene and Anna Mae Matey of Weirton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 16.
The couple were united in marriage on Sept. 16, 1961, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton by the Rev. Stephen P. Natsis.
He is the son of the late Emery and Emma Matey. He served in the Army in World War II and the Korean War. He retired after 40 years with Weirton Steel Corp., where he worked in the machine and blacksmith shops.
She is the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Arch. She is retired from Hancock County Schools, where she was a teacher's aide and kindergarten assistant at Liberty and Broadview elementary schools.
They are members of Grace Lutheran Church in Steubenville.
They have two children, Eric of Meadville, Pa., and Renee Matey Stokes of Fort Mill, S.C. They have four grandchildren.
They are planning to celebrate their anniversary on board a European river cruise.
