OPINION: Festival has lots to offer

The Herald-Star

Food, fun, entertainment and camaraderie will be displayed throughout the village next weekend during the 15th-annual Thunder in the Ville events slated for June 24-25 at Treasure Island Flea Market.

A number of food and craft vendors will be on hand to offer event-goers a wide variety of goods. Musical entertainment will be provided each evening and will include a number of local bands as well as a selection of local dance groups.

A car cruise is scheduled from 6 p.m. until dusk on June 25, with registration being held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Street rods, classics cars, hot rods, muscle cars and custom cars are all welcome. And the annual fireworks display will be held at 10 p.m. on June 25 evening.

This event serves as a wonderful community gathering for the village and the chance for area musicians, dance groups and vendors to display their talents. The festival committee works tirelessly each year to make sure that the event goes off without a hitch. The event is a chance for residents to get out and show support for the place they call home.

This year also marks the 180th birthday of the village, which will be recognized during the two-day festival. Get out and support your community.
