Church to hold

Fun Day today

WELLSBURG - Wellsburg Church of the Nazarene at 835 Washington Pike will host its annual Community Family Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m. today.

There will be lots of free activities for families, including a bungee run, giant slide, climbing wall and dunk tank.

There will be fast food and baked goods for sale and free balloons for children and face painting.

The church's 13th annual chicken roast will be held then also.

Tickets for the chicken roast are $7 each, and reservations are encouraged by calling (304) 737-0570.

A limited number of additional dinners may be available that day.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors and all activities may not be available.

moves meeting

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Service District board has moved its next regular meeting from June 8 to June 15 at 5 p.m. at its office at 711 Charles St.

Steel drum band

to perform

COLLIERS - The Heavenly Metal Steel Drum Band will perform at 5 p.m. Sunday at Colliers United Methodist Church.

The Richmond-based Christian band consists of children and adults ranging in age from nine to 50.

Under the direction of Shelly Irvine, they have performed at churches and other venues throughout the Ohio Valley and beyond.

It will be an outdoor concert, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Library announces activities

WELLSBURG The Brooke County Public Library and the Follansbee Branch Library will be holding several activities next week.

There will be a story hour for children, ages 2-5, and their caregivers, at noon Monday at the Follansbee Library; a program offering tips on making after-school snacks at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, assistance with preparing resumes and completing online job applications at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and the screening of the recent PG-13-rated film, "True Grit" at 1 p.m. Friday.

The last three programs will be held at the Brooke County Library.

All of the programs are free, but reservations are requested by calling (304) 737-1551 for those held at the Brooke County Library and (304) 527-0860 for those at the Follansbee Library.
