Cornhole tournament to be held
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Sportsman's Club near McAdoo Ridge will hold a cornhole tournament today.
Sign-ups will start at 11 a.m., with the tournament to begin at noon.
The cost is $20 per team, with all fees being awarded in prize money for first, second and third places.

C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc. to hold street fair
WEIRTON - As C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc. prepares for National Community Action Month, the organization is planning for a street fair to showcase the programs and services it offers area residents. Taking It to the Streets will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday outside C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc.'s main office at 3136 West St.
C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc. administers programs in Brooke, Hancock, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Tyler and Doddridge counties and includes medical care for residents living in the surrounding communities of Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Programs to be showcased are weatherization, housing, domestic violence prevention, job access, summer food, after-school, the Family Care Pharmacy, Family Medical Care Community Health Center and women's health.
Democratic Women to meet
FOLLANSBEE - The Brooke County Federation of Democratic Women will meet at 7 p.m. June 8 at the Follansbee Library. West Virginia State Executive Committee member Kris Yost will be the guest speaker. Volunteers needed to help veterans
FOLLANSBEE - The Brooke-Hancock-Ohio-Marshall Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is starting a group to assist veterans returning from service abroad in re-adjusting to life at home. Army Lt. Col. John Shaw has offered to head the group and advisory council member Bill Schaefer and volunteer Jim Brooks have volunteered to join the effort.
Church to sell sandwiches
COLLIERS - Colliers Christian Church will sell meatball sandwich lunches from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $5, which includes chips, salad and a beverage. Take-out is available.
