Computer class

to be held

WELLSBURG - The Follansbee Branch of the Brooke County Public Library will be offering a free basic adult computer class Friday at 11 a.m.

It will be instructed by Linda Dobbs. Class space is limited. Please call the (304) 527-0860 to register.

Car show to

benefit park

WELLSBURG - A classic car will be held to benefit the Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park from noon to 4 p.m. May 21 at the Dollar General Market.

There will be refreshments, a 50-50 drawing and music by a disc jockey.

There also will be trophies and a limited number of dash plaques for car owners.

Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the cost for car owners is $5.

Photos sought for

local history book

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Genealogy group is collecting historical pictures from throughout Brooke County, depicting all aspects of life, including families, schools, buildings, businesses and industry and mining, to be compiled in a book.

The group asks residents share their photographs and provide contact information, 50 words or less describing each photo, the approximate date, location and any names and identification possible.

The photos must be either an original or a quality copy. Contributions will be acknowledged. Pictures can be mailed to: Brooke County Genealogy, care of Brooke County Library, 10th and Main streets, Wellsburg, WV 26070.

Also, photos can be dropped off at the library. Submissions should be received by May 30.

Program to cover trains

AVELLA, Pa. - The A.D. White Research Society, a local history group, will present a program on the railroads of the past from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 21 at St. Michael Catholic Church.

Anyone interested in the subject is welcome and encouraged to bring stories, old photos and other items.

Spay-neuter clinic to be held

WINTERSVILLE - The Brooke County Animal Welfare League will sponsor a Roaming Animal Sterilization Clinic at Low Cost clinic for dogs and cats, June 4 and 5.

The clinic is being hosted by Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 859 at the Jefferson County Airpark.

Appointments are required for the clinic, which is not limited to Brooke County residents. Any interested pet owner should call (304) 374-4443 for details.

Crocheting group to meet

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library's Crocheting Group will be meeting in the River Room of the library on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The group is for beginners through experts. Bring your own supplies and projects. If you need help, someone will be available to assist or instruct you.

Chamber to hold Comedy Night

WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce is hosting A comedy night featuring Wellsburg native Dan Main and friends at 7 p.m. May 19 at the Station Grille restaurant at 1200 Commerce St. (state Route 2).

Tickets are $20 per person for the show, which will feature comedy of a PG-13-rated vein and follow a social hour at 6 p.m.
