Crocheting group to meet
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library's crocheting group will be meeting in the River Room of the Brooke County Library on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The group is for beginners through experts. Bring your own supplies and projects.
If you need help, someone will be available to assist or instruct you.

Grass clippings collected
WEIRTON - The city's grass and yard waste collection will begin Monday.
Crews will collect packaged grass clippings and leaves on the same day as garbage pickups. The materials should be left curbside before 7 a.m. and in rigid containers or marked "YARD WASTE" or in plastic bags separate from other household rubbish. Brush, tree limbs, dirt, grass from thatching, and rock and stone, decorative or otherwise; won't be accepted. Those with questions should call (304) 797-8540.
Project to help
WEIRTON - Krazy Bout Sportz, a business offering recreational opportunities for families, hopes to add a sensory room such as those found to be therapeutic for children with autism and other special needs.
To raise money for the project, they are holding a drawing at 2 p.m. May 15 for a $1,000 cash prize and a $500 cash prize.

3-D archery shoot set
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Sportsmen's Club will host a 3-D archery shoot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the club grounds on McAdoo Ridge.
There will be trap shooting also and hot food and soft drinks available at the clubhouse. Children 12 and under will shoot free. Call (304) 794-6408 for information.
Libraries announce holiday hours
WELLSBURG - In light of the holiday weekend, the Brooke County Public Library and Follansbee Branch Library will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
Church offers breakfast, help
WINDSOR HEIGHTS - The Necessities Cupboard, an outreach program of the Windsor Heights Church of God, will hold a free pancake and sausage breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon today.
The church accepts donations of various toiletries and household products, such as laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid, for distribution to local residents in need.
It also accepts monetary donations for the cause, which may be addressed to the church at P.O. Box 230, Windsor Heights, WV 26075. For information, call Lori Williams, the church's pastor, at (304) 394-5562.
Park to offer Easter trail
WELLSBURG - Brooke Hills Park will hold an Easter Treat Trail at 1 p.m. April 23.
Admission is $1 for the event, in which children will receive treats at various stations manned by local businesses and groups.
It's intended as a less competitive alternative to traditional Easter egg hunts.
City to conduct cleanup
FOLLANSBEE - The city's spring cleanup will be held April 25-30. Residents may leave bulky refuse out on the days of their regular garbage pickup.
Paint that has been dried by adding sand or cat litter will be accepted. Construction materials, tires, car batteries, wet paint and oils won't be accepted.
A new state law prohibits landfills from accepting televisions and computers with screens that measure more than 5 inches diagonally, so the city can't collect such items.
