Salvation Army dinner set

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Salvation Army Annual Appreciation Dinner will be held April 14 at the Wellsburg Loyal Order of Moose Hall on Main Street.

The guest speaker will be George Wallace, editor and publisher of the Brooke Review. Wallace has been involved in the community through his efforts with the establishment of the World War II exhibit at the Brooke County Public Library dedicated to honor and perpetuate the memory of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor.

Janet Tarr, chairman of the Brooke County Salvation Army Advisory Council, noted the annual event is a time for the local Salvation Army to thank the many businesses, groups, organizations and individuals who have given their time to help the Salvation Army continue its worldwide theme of "Doing the Most Good." Tickets may be purchased from any advisory council member, at the Brooke County Salvation Army's office at 401 Commerce St., or by calling (304) 737-0071 no later than Monday

Church to sell lunches

WELLSBURG - Christ Episcopal Church at 1014 Main St. will be selling roast beef sandwich lunches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14.

The cost is $6, which includes sandwich, potato chips, a slice of Texas sheet cake and a beverage. Individual sandwiches are $4.

Take-out and delivery to local businesses and shut-ins are available. Call (304) 737-3432 after 8:30 a.m. that day to place an order.
