A vocalist who has performed repeat engagements at both state and general federation of women's clubs conventions will entertain members of the GFWC/Ohio/Woman's Club of Steubenville for the Monday holiday meeting at the Steubenville Country Club.
She is Harriett Groh of Ripley, Ohio, and is president of the Southwest District of the Ohio Federation of Woman's clubs.
A graduate of Ohio State University, Groh is a certified professional in the field of human resources; performs with gospel groups and at frequent musical events; and gives motivational and leadership talks before community youth and church groups.
The meeting will begin with a noon luncheon with the social committee, headed by Martha Olivito, in charge.
Kathy Mills, club president, will meet with members of the board of directors at 11 a.m. prior to the general session.
Members are asked to bring hats, gloves and scarves for donation to the City Rescue Mission, broken watches for a federation project and toothbrushes and toothpaste for donation to the A.L.I.V.E. shelter.
Cookie sale at Brentwood UMC
The women of Brentwood United Methodist Church, 148 Stephens St. off Bantam Ridge Road, Wintersville, will hold their annual cookie sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

The Greater Weirton Senior Center has announced that the previously scheduled Bermuda cruise that had to be canceled because of the hurricane that hit Bermuda has been rescheduled for April 11-17.

Little bites that pack a big punch are the focus of a cooking class at the Brooke County Public Library Saturday at 11 a.m.

Did you know that knowledge of the alphabet letters at entry into kindergarten is a strong predictor of reading ability in the 10th grade?
Play and Learn the Alphabet offers letter-learning toys and games geared for children age 2 to 6.
The Schiappa Branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will offer it on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.; at the Dillonvale-Mt. Pleasant Branch on Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m.; and at the Adena Branch on Monday at 11:30 a.m.
Registration is not necessary.

Artist to present
print to museum
Weirton artist Dimitrios Akis will be presenting his print "We The People" to the Pleasant Hill School House Historical Museum during its open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"We The People" is a print using the words of the Constitution to form a portrait of the Statue of Liberty.
The school house will be decorated for Christmas and will have a holiday cookies sale, along with souvenirs and alumni to visit with.
"Come join us and see how the restoration of the 1880 one-room school house is progressing. Many more historical items have been added along with restoration of the transoms by the Belmont Tech students," a spokesman said.
The museum is located on state Route 213, Steubenville. Admission is free.
