Charity bike run set Saturday

WEIRTON - The Upper Ohio Valley chapter of American Bikers Aimed Toward Education will host its 17th-annual Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride on Saturday.

The event will start at Shooterz on St. Johns Road in Weirton. Registration will begin at noon, with the first bike leaving at 1 p.m. For information, call (304) 670-3417.

Monday deadline to register to vote

STEUBENVILLE - The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is Monday.

Voter registration forms can be found at the county board of elections, 117 N. Third St., office of the registrar or any deputy registrar of motor vehicles, a public high school or vocational school, a public library and the office of a county treasurer.

Village to flush hydrants

WINTERSVILLE - Village crews will flush hydrants beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. daily and lasting through Friday.

Residents may experience discoloring in their water and low water pressure, village officials said.

Humane Society meeting canceled for month

STEUBENVILLE - The monthly meeting of the Jefferson County Humane Society scheduled Monday at Eastern Gateway Community College has been canceled.

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at EGCC.

Jefferson-Jackson dinner set in?Cadiz

CADIZ - The Harrison County Democrat Central and Executive Committee will hold its annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on Oct. 19 at the Wallace Lodge, Sally Buffalo Park.

Tickets are $15 each.

A silent auction will be available throughout the dinner, and door prizes are being provided by the Lakeland Federated Democrat Women's Club.

Group promoting manufacturing jobs

WHEELING - The Alliance for American Manufacturing, a group aimed at keeping manufacturing jobs in the U.S., will be holding an informational dinner Oct. 15 at the White Palace at Wheeling Park.

The group will discuss proposals to reduce unemployment, ensure that domestic manufacturing is competitive against foreign businesses and opportunities for new workers in manufacturing.
