Marines, auxiliary hold picnicJuly 30, 2010The Tri-State Marine Corps Club and its auxiliary held their annual family picnic at the Get Togethers Picnic Grounds on Kings Creek. Phillip Greathouse, a club member, provided music. Scott Dawson and Jim Brecht, adopted Marines, were given solar lawn rocks with the Marine Corps emblem by the auxiliary, and their autobiographies were read. Maxine Ragan, LaVonne Balint and Ruth Zirkle cooked. Bill Snyder said grace, followed by Ragan, Carol Lyons, Balint and Mary Ann Elliott serving dinner. Danny, Carol, Becky and Jacob Lyons and Don Tootham ran the farmers table. Children received visors and gift bags from Spano and Becky Lyons. Brecht won a bottle of wine in a guessing game. Other prize winners were Debbie George, who won a bird house donated by Pete Elliot; Tim Martin, Avon donated by Sherilyn Bumgardner; Bruce Hornick, storage container of items donated by auxiliary; Cathy Dregan, throw donated by Shirley Brecht; and Tim Martin, Henry Portocaerro and Wanda Perrone, prizes donated by Dan Lyons. Holly Ellis won the 50/50 drawing. |
