University in Ohio plans new Greek housing village

July 5, 2014

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — A university in northwestern Ohio is planning a new housing village to help promote fraternities and sororities on campus.

The planned Greek housing village at Bowling Green State University will replace fraternity and sorority houses that are being torn down. University officials say the conditions of the existing houses are substandard. University officials determined that renovating the older buildings would prove too costly.

They say the project also was driven by the realization of the importance of fraternities and sororities to campus life.

The Sentinel-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1kfWh91 ) in Bowling Green reports the project is set to begin this month with demolition of the old buildings.

The razed buildings will be replaced with a townhome village of 10 buildings. The $30 million project is scheduled to be completed by fall, 2016.
