Park to hold egg hunt
WELLSBURG - Brooke Hills Park will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt March 27 at 2 p.m.
The cost $1 per child, and hunts will be held for children, ages 2-4, 5-7 and 8-10.

Library to screen Disney film
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will be showing the Walt Disney film "The Princess and the Frog," on March 27 at 11 a.m. Set in New Orleans' French Quarter, the G-rated film is a return to hand-drawn animation, as opposed to computer-generated images, and offers a modern twist on a classic tale.

Egg ornament can be made
WELLSBURG - Visitors to the Brooke County Public Library can learn to create a sequined egg ornament for Easter Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Flood assistance to be discussed
WELLSBURG - Residents who have received substantial damage from flooding in the past are encouraged to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wellsburg City Hall.
A state representative of the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be on hand to discuss its hazard mitigation grant program, including the FEMA buy-out program.
Dinner-dance to benefit park
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park Foundation will hold its annual dinner-dance April 24 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall.
Sponsored by Paul T. Billiard, owner of Riverfront Insurance Services; and Staffileno's on the River, the event will include music by Twice as Nice from 9 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., during which the group will recognize a local veteran for his service to his country and community. There also will be door prizes and a 50-50 drawing. Meet the Candidates Night April 11
FOLLANSBEE - U.S. Rep. Alan Mollohan, D-Fairmont, will be the guest speaker at a Meet the Candidates Night to be held at 5 p.m. April 11 at the Follansbee Community House by the Brooke County Democratic Party Executive Committee and Brooke County Federation of Democratic Women.
Democratic candidates for various state and county offices have been invited to appear.
John Martino, executive committee president, and Anna Gillespie, president of the Democratic Women, will serve as hosts.

Sportsmen Club to hold ham shoot
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Sportsmen and Farmers Club will have its annual Easter Ham Shoot at the club grounds on McAdoo Ridge, at 1 p.m. Sunday.
There will be lady luck targets, along with pies, tip boards and beginners trap squads. Guns will be provided for those who need them.
There will be free squads for children, and the kitchen will be serving hot food and soft drinks.

Swine flu vaccine available
WELLSBURG - Vaccinations for the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, will be available from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday in March at the Brooke County Health Department at the Brooke County Courthouse and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Follansbee Branch of the Brooke County Public Library and March 22 at the Brooke County Public Library.
No appointment is needed, but parents or legal guardians should accompany children under the age of 18.
Children who haven't received their second vaccination may do so at that time.

Civic League hears choir
WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Civic League held its first meeting of the year on Feb. 23 at the Brooke County Library.
The group was entertained by the Brooke High School Madrigal Choir, directed by Nick Taylor, and everyone was glad to get out after all of the snow the area has had, a spokesman said.
Guests are invited to the club's meetings, which are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the library.
Computer clinic offers repairs
STEUBENVILLE - The Information Technology Club at Eastern Gateway Community College, formerly Jefferson Community College, will hold a free computer clinic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 27 at the college.
Area residents may bring their computers and software for troubleshooting and repairs by members of the club under the direction of Bobbie Parnicza, assistant professor.
The work will be performed for free, but donations to the group are appreciated and a 50-50 drawing will be held to support the club's activities. Some parts will be available for cost.
College personnel will be available to answer questions about Eastern Gateway's information technology program.

Softball tourney to benefit child
STEUBENVILLE - Weirton Knights of Columbus Council 3437 seeks teams to participate in a men's softball tournament April 10 and 11 at Belleview Park to benefit the family of six-month-old Emma Gorrell, who has cystic fibrosis.
There is a $100 entry fee per team, with cash prizes to be awarded for the teams that place first, second and third. Those interested in participating should register no later than April 9 by calling (304) 374-7923 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Proceeds will go to defraying medical expenses for Gorrell, who is the daughter of Robert "Bush" and Lisa Gorrell of Shadyside.
The event also will include food and a Chinese auction, and donations of prizes for the auction are welcome.
Club to hold pancake supper
WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Kiwanis Club will hold its annual pancake and sausage supper from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 13 at the Wellsburg Moose Lodge at 844 Main St.
The cost is $5 for the all-you-can eat meal, with children 8 and under admitted free. There also will be a pound auction.
