WEIRTON - The Serbian American Cultural Center, the Tri-State Area's premier, award-winning location for weddings, banquets, business meetings, parties and events of all kinds, functions under the motto, "affordable elegance," with no costly hidden fees or additional charges.
Offering professional event planning services by a management staff with nearly 60 years of combined experience, the Serbian American Cultural Center's mission is "...to ensure that every detail of your event is handled with great care by our staff, allowing you to relax and enjoy every minute of your special occasion." The center hosted its first event on March 12, 1997, and can accommodate groups as intimate as 20 or as large as 1,000. The center is a full-service banquet facility and lounge, offering 24,000-square feet of accommodations and is open to the public.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees and an assortment of hors d'oeuvres and desserts are prepared by the kitchen staff led by Executive Chef Michael Baczewski. The staff includes a sous chef, salad chef, saucier, display chef and an apprentice. The talents of the culinary staff are not limited to the lounge or banquet menu offerings. They work directly with clients to create dishes utilizing the freshest of ingredients incorporating the latest techniques in both preparation and presentation.

The center offers special holiday brunch and buffet menus for Serbian Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. For celebrations such as New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day, the center prepares a station-to-station, display cooking buffet including specialties such as shrimp scampi and flaming desserts.
The center celebrates its civic-mindedness by donating to local charities. Both monetary, food and in-kind donations were made to the Weirton United Way, the Salvation Army, Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church and to the International Orthodox Christian Charities.
The center supports the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce by hosting many of its programs including "Ladies' Day at the Chamber" and the High School Business Symposium.
Being the valley's leading presenter of trade shows and expos, on March 4 the center will host the "Taste of Home" Cooking School sponsored by the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times, and on March 19-21 SACC will host the Tri-State Home and Garden Show.
During the Lenten season leading up to Easter, the center offers Lenten fish frys that began on Ash Wednesday and continue every Wednesday and Friday until Easter. The facility offers an expanded menu and dining in two rooms with plenty of seating. Ash Wednesday's hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; other Wednesdays from 4 to 8 p.m.; and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Weekly events are Serbian Men's Club-sponsored Bingo, Monday, 5 p.m.; a new Family Night All-You-Can-Eat Buffet, Thursday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring a carving station with a different meat each week, a create-your-own pasta station with your choice of ingredients and toppings and a kid-friendly entree including pizza, macaroni and cheese and chicken tenders; Fabulous Fish "Fry-Days," Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday Brunch Buffet, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Also new to the weekly schedule is the "Taste of the Valley" Buffet on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A different ethnicity highlighting the diverse cultures of the Ohio Valley is featured each week incorporating authentic food, drinks, music and ambiance. The All-American BBQ and Italian, Greek, Mexican, Polish and Serbian foods are served.
Now in its 13th year, the center is the "official" caterer for the Serbian Picnic Grounds operated by the Serbian Men's Club. The picnic grounds are home to the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club Picnic, catered by the center.
Short-term plans for the center include renovations to Tesla's Lounge, making it more versatile while maintaining the atmosphere that frequent customers have come to appreciate.
In late 2009, the center's Web site received a complete overhaul and upgrade www.sacchall.com including the ability to take a virtual tour of the facility. The center also has e-mail service through Verizon at its new address firstname.lastname@example.org.
Long-range plans support an expanded marketing campaign making in-roads into the Robinson Township and Pittsburgh International Airport areas hoping to secure trade shows, meetings and holiday parties from that cluster of businesses.
