Alan E. Winkler

WINKLER, Alan E., 64, of Weirton, passed away February 7, 2010, in Montifiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., from complications following a severe stroke.

He was born January 28, 1946, in Franklin, Pa., the son of the late Howard and Jane Lewis Winkler.

He was also preceded in death by twin sons, Joshua Joseph and Corey James Winkler in 1985.

Alan retired from the sales department of Weirton Steel Co. with 37 years of service. He also worked for eight years at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort as a bartender and corporate runner. Alan was Catholic by faith. He loved soccer and coached six years for the Weirton Rotary Youth Soccer League, and he supported Force Travel and Weirton Madonna High School soccer. He was an avid golfer and cyclist, and was a member of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club.

He is survived by his wife, Lynnellen Reali Winkler of Weirton; son, Erik R. Winkler and Erik's mother, Joanne Zdybicki Winkler, both of Wexford, Pa.; step-son, Ryan-Noah Schloss, his wife, Jamie, and their daughter, Abby, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and his stepdaughter, Elizabeth E. "Lizzy" Schloss of Weirton.

Memorial services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alan's memory can be made to The First Tee, World Golf Village, c/o Holly Manuel, 425 S. Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL 32092 .
